Difficult to rate a dictionary when there are few others on the market and I have no experience of them I use this occasionally and it rarely lets me down Perhaps not as inclusive as electronic dictionaries but much nicer to handle and to flip through.

I am trying to learn Hindi and am approaching it from a speech perspective primarily I haven t yet attempted to learn to write or read it in the Devenagari script as I use the Romanised script to learn vocabulary Thus this dictionary, which only gives the Hindi words in the Devenagari script is beyond me just now It may come in useful at a much later date but it s not serving my needs just now

I m sure this is a useful dictionary if you know the Hindi script, but I was looking for a dictionary with latin alphabet transcriptions of the Hindi words which this dictionary did not provide.

An excellent dictionary for those learning English, not so helpful if you want to improve your Hindi I had expected that this would be the companion volume to the Oxford Hindi English Dictionary R S McGregor but this is not the case. Many of the English words are not given equivalents but have their meanings explained in Hindi To help those learning English there are examples of usage but these are not translated into Hindi.

Nice dictionary but why do they not add some romanised phonetics It would make it universally appealing and useful.
